HTC U11 Plus – HTC’s True 2017 Flagship
After all this time, the Taiwanese giant – HTC has announced a phone with smaller bezels. Can this finally be the resurrection of the company? Let’s analyze its features and specification, and how it holds up against the latest Android flagships in today’s saturated market.
Design and Display
HTC U11 plus looks very familiar but comes with a refined design. HTC has finally cut the bezels with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The 6-inch LCD6 display is a QHD+ (2880 x 1440) with a 538 PPI density that supports a wide range of colors and HDR 10 content. HTC U11+ also has IP68 rating. This means the phone can be submerged under water for 30 minutes.
The U11 Plus looks very similar to its old sibling, especially to the U11 in design prospect. The glass back is a very premium and luminous finish.
Hardware and battery
The U11 Plus is the most premium HTC phone of 2017, so it comes with the best specification of the year. It comes in two configurations, either with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage or 4GB of RAM and 64BG of storage. HTC U11 Plus is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 chipset and Adreno 540 GPU. It also comes with an expandable storage up to 256GB with a micro SD card.
The HTC U11 Plus has a mammoth 3930 mAh battery. That should easily last you an entire day of heavy usage. HTC claims that you can get up to 25 hours of talk time on it.
Camera
Lately, HTC has been very impressive with its cameras. We are hoping for a great shooter in HTC U11 Plus as well. This year, HTC U11 Plus’ camera is a no slouch. It has a 12-megapixel rear shooting camera with an aperture of F/1.7 and pixel size of 1.4µm. This means the lens should perform very well in low light. It can shoot in 4K and HDR. Like all the latest flagship camera phones, U11 has OIS too. The front camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with an aperture of f/2.0.
Other Features
This year, HTC has decided to launch its flagship U11 Plus in three colors: Translucent Black, Ceramic Black, and Amazing Silver. The phone comes with latest Android version 8.0 (Oreo), however, it lacks 3.5 mm headphone jack.
When U11 was announced earlier this year, one of its most unique features was the Edge Sense. HTC has upgraded the squeezable body of U11 Plus. You can perform different tasks by squeezing the phone, like launching Google Now, Alexa, and your favorite apps which can be very useful. HTC did not announce the exact date of its availability, but it will be available in Europe and selected markets. Unfortunately, it will not be available for HTC fans in the United States
